Take a look at my books.

As a hobby, I particularly enjoy creating handmade books and paper. The fun of it is really the process for me, but it does leave me with many gorgeous sketch books and notebooks to use myself or give to friends. See below for some of my favorite creations.

Chitsu

A Japanese chitsu is a type of wraparound case. This one is 5" x 7" x 3". My chitsu contains a box that I wrapped with one, precisely measured, piece of mulberry paper. The book cloth I chose to use is duotone, giving it different values dependent on the perspective of the viewer. My favorite part about this project was how precise my measurements had to be for the piece to work.

Sewn on Tapes

With this book, I used the sewn on tapes method to create the textblock. The book is 5" x 7" x 2". I created marbled decorative paper to cover the front, and more of my own decorative paper to decorate the inside lining.

Coptic Stitch

I created this book with handmade decorative paste papers. The book is 3" x 4" x 1". The coptic stitch technique allows the book to sit flat when opened. This is the first book I ever made.

Marbling

Marbling is an ancient process of dyeing paper through the use of water and hydrophobic dyes. I have so many marbled papers, but these are some of my favorites.
